Jervois Finland has an over 50-year history in cobalt refining in the Kokkola Industrial Park, one of Europe’s largest critical minerals refining hubs.

It is one of only two Western companies active across all key cobalt markets and has a global sales and distribution network to service the needs of our customers world-wide.

Governing Policies

Jervois Finland is proud of its best-in-class reputation for responsible, ethical and low carbon production of advanced cobalt products. The refinery has been recognised as Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI) Downstream Assessment Program (DAP) conformant for the third consecutive cycle, continuing a track record that began in 2020 as the first downstream refiner to achieve this standard.

In addition, Jervois Finland has received an EcoVadis Gold Medal Rating for ESG for 2024 and 2025. Jervois Finland is steadily advancing towards its ambitions to be carbon neutral by 2035.

Jervois is proud of its strong track record of good governance particularly regarding traceable supply and customer due diligence.

European Commission Critical Raw Materials Act Strategic Project designation

We are proud that the future expansion of Jervois Finland cobalt refinery is acknowledged as a Strategic Project by the European Commission under the Critical Raw Materials Act.

The expansion is expected to increase European refined cobalt production capacity by over 20% and add to European cobalt recycling.

Located in the Kokkola Industrial Park, the future expansion will be undertaken in accordance with Jervois Finland’s exceptional sustainability record and leading environmental management practices and is expected to provide employment opportunities in Kokkola.
